About St Mark's College
St Mark’s College is a family of schools comprising the Pre-Preparatory School, Preparatory, and College. It is a co-educational Anglican school with a history spanning nearly 40 years having opened its doors in 1985. It is steeped in traditions of academic excellence and service to others, particularly to the community of Jane Furse in Sekhukhune land where it’s situated as well as the surrounding areas.
The first class matriculated in 1990 with subsequent classes following ever since, each seeking to leave their own imprint in the school as it continued to chart its way into the future. Through the support of our dedicated teachers, each cohort of matric pupils leave the baton of academic excellence to be picked up by the next group, ensuring that long-standing traditions of hard work and resilience continue to be an integral part of the St Mark’s story.
Although situated in a relatively unknown part of South Africa, the school has had reach and impact extending beyond Sekhukhune land with many of its former pupils coming from as far as Polokwane and beyond, including Soweto, Pretoria, Bushbuckridge, and Rustenburg, to name but a few.
All these attributes bear testament to the immense trust parents continue to place in us as a school, giving it an appeal and reach that is able to transcend provincial borders. As a result of the education that St Mark’s provides, our pupils are equipped with the tools to be the best they can be in whatever field of study they choose to pursue after high school. Our former pupils continue to excel in South Africa’s top universities, proving yet further our competence to nurture the next generation of leaders and shape changers that will play a positive role in the transformation of South Africa in various areas of life.
Against this backdrop, the school is currently in the process of reinvention to ensure our learners are equipped for the demands of the 21st century. We invite you to join the St Mark’s family as we enter this new chapter of change.
