Earliest Memories of St Mark’s
Elias Phaahla
I remember walking through the gates of St Mark’s for the first time in 1996 to attend Saturday lessons.
I remember returning to St Mark’s four years later to start my high school career.
I remember the cheers and the thunderous applause after begging to propose or oppose a motion in front of the chapel crowd.

I arrived on Sekhukhune Drive as a young teenage girl, excited about my future at the school. I got to the boarding house, which added to the many memorable moments I had at the school, in part due to the delicious lunches we had in the dining hall.

Where do I even begin to count the precious, golden memories I experienced at St Mark's. Amongst them there's one that doesn't leave my thoughts every time I make a recollection, which is my very first interaction with former principal Mr Peter Anderson.

St Mark’s College marked a very special time in my life, a time where I was shaped into the person I am today. As soon as I arrived, it felt like home.
